Our History

Rotary Club of Goochland
The Rotary Club of Goochland was formed the summer of 1995 with the help of the Rotary Club of Innsbrook. Members from the Innsbrook Club who assisted in the formation were Fred Thompson, Jeff Gray, Broocks Robertson, Joe Kreuger, Randy Lickey and several others. We received our charter at our Installation Banquet at Richmond Country Club on November 14, 1995.
Our Club initially met at the Virginia Farm Bureau cafeteria and meeting room in West Creek. As our membership continued to grow, Richmond Country Club became our new home and we met there every Friday morning. Our first Board of Directors officers were: C. Broocks Robertson, IV, President; Dr. L. Ray Drinkwater, President Elect; Dorothy F. Flynn, Treasurer; Marian M. Elam, Secretary; and G. Slaughter Fitz-Hugh, III, Sergeant-at-Arms. Directors included Ron Nease, International Services; Alexa Adams, Club Services; Ennion Williams, Community Services; and David Greenberg, Vocational Services.
For several years, we met at Hermitage Country Club and then went back to our original home, Richmond Country Club, where we are today.
