2024 Rotary Club of Goochland Service Above Self Service Recognition Scholarship Application

The Rotary Club of Goochland is delighted to announce the annual "Service Above Self" Service Recognition Scholarship, aimed at honoring a Goochland County resident who will graduate high school in 2024 who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to service. This scholarship, valued at $3,000, is a one-time award intended to support the educational pursuits of an individual who exemplifies Rotary's mission of "Service Above Self."

Eligibility Criteria:

The recipient must be a resident of Goochland County and will graduate high school in 2024. The recipient can attend any high school or be homeschooled.
The recipient must plan to enroll in a two or four-year college/university or a certified trade school.
Dependents (children and grandchildren) of Rotary Club of Goochland members are not eligible.
The scholarship must be utilized within two years of high school graduation.

Application Process:

To be considered for this service award, applicants are required to complete the Rotary Club Scholarship Application below.

Please ensure all necessary documents are uploaded. Applications must be submitted by April 15, 2024. Late or incomplete applications will NOT be considered.

Award Details:

The scholarship winner will be notified by June 30, 2024.
Information regarding the disbursement of the scholarship funds will be provided to the recipient.
The recipient will be invited to attend a Rotary Club of Goochland meeting in the summer of 2024 to celebrate their achievement.

Extra-Curricular Activities: Create and upload a pdf file of a three column chart which includes all of your extra curricular activitis (e.g. scouts, sports, drama, music, clubs, church/place of worship). Do not include community service activities. The three columns should be titled: ACTIVITY, BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND POSITIONS HELD, YEARS PARTICIPATED

Service Activities: Create and upload a pdf file of a three column chart which includes all of your community service activities. The three columns should be titled: ACTIVITY, BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND POSITIONS HELD, YEARS PARTICIPATED.

Personal Statement: Prepare and upload a pdf copy of your personal statement, which should not exceed 500 words and demonstrates how you have applied the "Service Above Self" principle to your community involvement.

Letter of Recommendation 1: Upload a copy of a letter of recommendation from a faculty member non family faculty member.

Letter of Recommendation 2: Upload a copy of a letter of recommendation from a non-family faculty member or community leader.
